One Small Step for Advertisting, One Giant Leap BACKWARDS for Mankind

In 1997 Andi Herzog scored a goal against Sweden that is still being talked about. Apparently the goal brought such immense pride, that eleven years later, the Austrian postal office created a postal stamp that has a 3-second loop of the goal. With its whopping €5.45 price tag, it makes it the most expensive stamp ever.

That’s right folks still frame stamps are a thing of the past. Video stamps, using lenticular technology, is where it’s at. The thought of video stamps is fairly new, but lenticular printing was designed in the 1940’s and continues to be refined. The process which is extremely complex uses several intricate steps to get the effect working right. The Herzog stamp uses a total of 48 images to get the desired effect, which equals out to roughly 3 seconds of video. This stamp was Austria’s way of honoring the UEFA EURO 2008.
